My Family Care asks: The after school homework regime epitomises 'War and Peace' in many a household. What steps can you take to minimise the battles, and how can you support your children from homework hell to homework heaven?

This week, we got a ten year old's perspective on the topic, in his own words

In three words... Homework is rubbish

Young kids that are any age from 4-13 should have time to interact with their parents or if not then play in the garden or something like that.

But you also need to learn spellings and maths and things.

I think schools needs to make homework more fun. Recently I had to do a pre-test and thankfully the head of studies at my school put the revision on a website.

After school

Every day when I came home from school I want to go on the computer without having to beg my mum. That is why things like Mathletics and Vocab Express are good because they are on the computer.

It doesn't help my mum much as I do it all on her computer, which makes her mad when she is trying to work. [Amanda: that's so true.]

Light at the end of the tunnel

I am in year 6 now, so our teacher says we don't have to do spellings anymore which is a result for me but not my brother who is still in year 3. Haha.
