Introspection time, I'm afraid

It happens pretty rarely and it's usually painful when it does. But let's start with my morning routine. Not all of it, you'll be glad to know, just the mirror part. There will be a moment, usually involving a toothbrush, when I look at myself.

Want to know what I see? A healthy, happy, trendy (yes, trendy) successful man, only slightly balding, who seems to be combining career, family and life very successfully. I have grounded children, an amicable divorce, a great business, and even a nice commute into work...

Living the dream

Morning routine finished, I head into our lovely Fulham offices. We spend our time supporting employees at many of the UK's best and biggest employers. These are the working mums and dads who seem to have it all as well (often with our help, it's true, but they're still the role models).

They're living the dream. They have good jobs at award-winning businesses and no doubt earn enough money for decent childcare, nice houses, and the odd week away in the sun for good measure. It's a template for the rest of the country; or at least that's my conviction when I'm standing in front of the mirror with toothbrush in hand...

It was early is my excuse...

I was on TV last week. With me in the studio was a grungy street art expert, the fanatical founder of a campaign called Stop Killing Cyclists, and a 24 year old film producer. The way the logistics worked meant we got to spend quite a lot of time with each other.

It was an interesting mix and a pretty lively conversation. It dawned on me at one point that there was only one suited, boring capitalist in the room, and it just might have been me...

All a bit depressing. Luckily, I'll be back to normal next week.
