Providing a little extra help
Backup Adult & Eldercare will provide a qualified and sensitive carer when your normal arrangements have let you down.
Whatever the care needs of you or your dependant, and whoever provides it normally (you, a friend, a relation or a professional carer), we can help.
Ensuring your loved ones are in safe hands
Our associated care agencies provide quality services to those who need a little extra help in order to retain their independence in their own home.
Care agencies and workers
- All care agencies we use are registered with the Care Quality Commission (and equivalent bodies in Scotland and Wales). On request, we can provide you with a copy of the agency inspection report in advance
- All care workers will be DBS checked and hold a POVA (Protection of Vulnerable Adults check)
- All care workers are interviewed and have at least two written references. They also must have attended a 3-day training and induction course before they are permitted to provide care
- All care workers will either hold, or be working towards, the relevant NVQ (either level 2 or 3).
We pride ourselves on always being on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding our service. We will spend the time to understand your needs.
There's more to caring than just supporting the disabled or sick. As well as just being there for your loved ones (or even yourself), carers deliver on a multitude of tasks, including:
- Daily routine provision
- Personal care and hygiene
- Meal preparation
- Housekeeping
- Errand running
- Help to keep active
- Transportation
- Companionship.

Getting in touch
If you have a question, please get in touch with our team on support@myfamilycare.co.uk or 0345 241 5306.
Before you are able to make a booking, you will need to register the details of any elderly relatives or adult dependants (over 18) who you think may benefit from the service in the future.
You only need to register once at the start of the service, but please do keep your details accurate by logging in and updating them if your circumstances change.
We strongly recommend pre-registration we know and fully understand your needs and those of your dependants. This will help us allocate the most appropriate care agency in your or your dependant's area.
A home assessment is critical in determining your or your dependant's individual needs, to provide the best possible care.
Home assessments are legally required and care cannot commence without one. They must be driven by a specific need or trigger, such as:
- Recuperation from an operation.
- A recently diagnosed illness.
- A change in circumstances of the regular carer.
A Care Manager will meet with your dependant at their home to discuss how the care will be undertaken and to understand their personal preferences regarding the care to be provided. It is preferred that you or another family member be present. You will be provided with the name of the individual in advance, and they will be able to show ID.
A plan of care will be developed, explaining the services agreed to and summarising any specific preferences in relation to the care provided. The plan of care helps the service user and care professionals to work in a consistent and safe manner.
The timing of the home assessment will depend on your individual needs and those of your dependant. If you want care to commence as soon as possible, we will co-ordinate a mutually convenient time for a home assessment.
Please note the minimum amount of time needed to arrange a home assessment is usually two working days.
