Adult Dependent & Eldercare Consultancy

There are currently 25 different benefits that an adult dependent MIGHT be eligible for. Working out how the state will and should support a loved one can be incredibly difficult for even the most tenacious individuals. Adding in the logistical problems of combining work with care commitments and without the right support, it can become impossible.

Up to 40% of your employees at any one time might be carers. Unlike caring for children, when one of our parents becomes dependent it is unplanned, and the issues raised can be incredibly sensitive.

Working Carers will have many questions:

  • What support is available from the State?
  • How do Social Services and the NHS work together?
  • Is a care home the right option, and how do you choose one?
  • What emotional support is available?

These are exactly the type of situations that our Dependent and Eldercare Consultancy service helps with.

What does Eldercare Consultancy involve?

We have a team of dedicated experts nationwide. They provide the 1:1 support that the employee, their parents or dependents might need.

The key stages of a typical Eldercare Consultancy case are:

  1. The employee calls to initiate a consultancy case
  2. A local eldercare consultant is assigned to them
  3. The employee and consultant meet to discuss the family's circumstances, together with the dependents, or separately as agreed
  4. We discuss your eldercare needs in detail and discuss and agree on the best solutions
  5. The consultant is available to do everything and anything needed to make sure the desired solution becomes a reality
  6. Once care is in place the consultant is available for ongoing support

Typical situations our consultants help with include:

Choosing Care - Becoming a carer can be a gradual or an immediate event.  There are lots of care options: occasional back up care, palliative help, community care or finding a care home. We explain the options and help you decide on the best. It's often not a one off event but an ongoing process where we remain involved.

Care in the Community - Via the NHS and the Local Authority Social Services there are different kinds of care available. It can feel overly complicated as different NHS Trusts operate in different ways and the quality and type of care available depends on the Local Authority responsible. We help you through the maze of options and make sure you know and can access your local care support.

Choosing a Care Home - How do you choose a good care home? We visit care homes on behalf of clients and give you a detailed assessment of the suitable and available care homes to help you make an informed choice.

Financial Support and Benefits - There are a myriad of different ways that you might be able to access financial support for the eldercare support you need. We take the time to understand your individual needs find out exactly what you or loved one is entitled to. Typically the details we explore include:

  • Costs of care home and which party contributes how much
  • Council Tax Benefits and Housing Support
  • Disability Benefits (both Attendance Allowances and Disability Living Allowance)
  • Pension Credits; and
  • Applying for and Receiving Grants from the Social Fund.
