Our workforce is increasingly confronted with combining care duties with the pursuit of a career. Care responsibilities are a source of emotional pressure and stress, that can be difficult to reconcile with work.
Employees with care responsibilities tend to struggle to find someone to share challenges with and explore solutions. Often they fear sharing such challenges, believing that this could have a negative impact on their career. Yet, isolation very often increases stress levels, reduces focus in work and means employees take longer to reach a satisfying arrangement.
Unproductive isolation of working carers can easily be avoided with the right support. Organisations can offer effective opportunities for working carers, by putting fellow colleagues facing similar issues and challenges in contact with one another during our workshops, or with 1:1 Career Coaching.
