Are you HR fit for the Olympics?
Nearly a third of British firms have not yet worked out basic plans to cope with a lack of staff and other disruptions from this summer's Olympic Games, a major survey from BT revealed this week
With 197 days to go before the start of London 2012, the study of 1,200 businesses found that over 90% expect to be hit by supply chain disruption, higher hotel costs and staff attendance issues as employees attend Games events.
It would seem that these fears are well founded as research by recruitment company Badenoch &Clark shows that one in six UK employees is planning to a ‘sick day’ in order to watch the Olympics.
Preparation for the Olympics
Despite all this 29% of the companies polled by BT, including FTSE 100 firms, public sector organisations and SMEs admitted that they had not yet made any preparation for the games.
